COVID-19 Update: 4/6/19

We hope all of our clients are staying safe and taking care of themselves.  We are working hard to keep necessary services available to you and your pets.  Please take note of the following changes and reminders about our hours of operation and available services.

MVOS HOURS: We remain open to see pets who have a problem and should not wait to be seen—from 9am to 5pm Monday through Thursday. Please call to make an appointment if your pet needs to be seen so we can be prepared for your visit. We will continue to see emergency visits.

FOOD AND MEDICATION PICK UP:  If you need to refill a prescription for your pet please call ahead so we can have your items ready for you.  IMPORTANT:  You can ONLY pick up medication Monday through Friday. Since MVOS is located inside Metairie Small Animal Hospital, the building is open for EMERGENCIES ONLY on Saturday and Sunday and they do not have the staff available to continue medication sales during these times.  We are still available to mail your medications to you if that is helpful.  If your pets are on medications for life-threatening or chronic illnesses, please take the time to check your medication levels and submit a refill request if needed.

ALL APPOINTMENTS AND PICKUPS WILL BE CURBSIDE:  In order to minimize exposure to our clients and staff, we will have team members stationed outside to check your pet in and will have them taken into the hospital to be seen by the doctor or have their treatments performed.

APPOINTMENTS/WALK-INS/DROP-OFFS:  You will be checked in by a team member and given the option to wait for your pet to be seen or drop-off and pick up your pet at a later time.

When taking in your pet, we WILL NOT be able to take your leashes or collars.  Those will be kept with you and we will use hospital issued leashes.  For pets that need to be transported in carriers, we will disinfect the carrier and use it to transport the pet inside the hospital.  It will be disinfected again before your pet is returned to it, and again before it is returned to you.
When the doctor has finished your pet’s exam or treatment, they will call you with their findings and treatment plan.  They will discharge your pet and give you all instructions over the phone.  You will also receive a written discharge summary.
All payments will be made over the phone at this point in time which means we will ONLY BE ABLE TO ACCEPT PAYMENTS VIA CREDIT CARD, DEBIT CARD OR CARE CREDIT.  If paying with Care Credit please be prepared to provide your driver’s license number.

PLEASE BE PATIENT:  We ask that all of our clients be patient as we continue to adjust our protocols to keep our services available to you and your pets.  We realize that there are a lot of changes happening and that it is easy to get frustrated right now.  We know that things take a little bit longer to accomplish with added safety measures in place, so please plan accordingly when coming to our facilities.  Also, please take the time to thank our amazing team of people who have continued to work, putting themselves at risk, so we can continue to offer you and your pets excellent care.  We are working with minimal staff and our team has continued to show up and work hard, despite their personal worries and stress—so please, be patient and be kind—that will go a long way for all of us.
